The journey begins...

The start of my journey began many years ago, in Sydney, Australia. My father, coming from England loved the sun and the surf. During my childhood we spent many Sunday's at North Curl Curl Beach in Sydney. We arrived early, 3 kids, 2 dogs, umbrella and snacks in hand. We lined up to be slathered in zinc cream, rubbed on our shoulders, backs and faces. Dad baking in the sun, Mum under the umbrella with her books. We like many families enjoyed the time, paddling in the salt water, building sand castles, chasing dogs and waves. Late in the afternoon we would all be packed up in the car, sandy, sunburned and exhausted looking forward to stopping on the way home for our usual treat ~ A lemonade iceblock. The joys of summer in Sydney!

In my teenage years, we finally moved to North Narrabeen; just a 10 minute walk to the beach. The whole family embraced this lifestyle; Dad swimming in the surf almost every day, weekends and holidays spent with friends. We all loved the sea and were bought up with an appreciation as well as an awareness of surf safety.

So, as you can clearly see the love of the ocean was instilled in me at a young age; the smell of the salty air, the squeak of sand on your feet,  the dampness at night and the sound of crashing waves.
